Welcome to what is effectively a momentary series of blinks into the processes of my consciousness.
This blog exists because I recognized a peculiar problem as of about 6 months ago in my life. You see, at one time in my life, rarely a day went by when I wasn't engaged in conversation about Philosophy, Politics, Science, Historical Events, or virtually any other form of stimulating conversation. It wasn't uncommon to have multiple such conversations a day. In recent years these conversations and forms of stimulation have waned dramatically and left me feeling a strange gap in my life. This is of course something that happens, college is wonderful at facilitating these types of encounters and conversations when there is nothing to worry about all day long except academia. Once the real life nonsense sets in that changes, people get busy, conversations become more about updating each other on what's happening and less on the deeper questions. It's all very unfortunate.
The purpose of this blog is to fill that gap in order to do as much as possible to avoid turning into a monotonous and otherwise preoccupied-ly boring adult.
That is not to say that I am expecting this to be a place of conversation and debate, though I certainly welcome that. It was not the debate itself necessarily that was so important. It was the act of conversing about these topics at all.
When one is forced to express themselves verbally, either in words or conversation, and to express ideas fully and intelligibly in a way that facilitates conversation, it forces deeper analysis of those thoughts by the presenter. That is what I have been lacking, deeper analysis of my thoughts and opinions on various topics. I used to find myself making almost daily leaps and bounds philosophically, learning more and understanding more with every passing day. In recent years I have come to feel as if I make a few leaps of progress every couple months. This is hardly acceptable.
Thus, I would like to formally invite and welcome you, as a reader and welcome participant in the human condition, to join me in pondering various subjects of personal interest.
There will be no focus in this blog outside of "things Joey is thinking about at the moment", as a result the content will likely do things like vary dramatically from post to post, or possibly not vary at all for several posts. Whatever I am preoccupied with is what is going to happen here. If those things interest you I hope you will feel free to comment and discuss them and bring your own insight along with you. If they don't interest you, well, I don't particularly care because that's not what this is about in the first place.
